Writing is healing.
I work with a bunch of elementary aged kids and I love seeing them come in with a book under their arm. It reminds me of when I was younger and carried one with me everywhere I went. I don't know what it is about reading as a kid that makes it so enjoyable. Maybe it's the fact that they're reading with an imagination that's mostly uninhibited by life.
